Angelica knew she wanted to learn to play the guitar after seeing The Sound of Music. Her mother accompanied her to her first Suzuki guitar lesson at the age of five and a half, and Angelica has been a guitarist ever since. Angelica was a student of Beth Hilton and Frank Longay, completing all nine Suzuki books by the age of eleven. Angelica went on to study with Sharon Wayne and Marc Teicholz and performed in local master classes and music festivals throughout her adolescence.
Angelica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Sonoma State University and was accepted to pursue a Masters in Classical Guitar Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Angelica fell in love with teaching and feels incredibly lucky to be able to give back to the community in which she grew up. While continuing her teaching at Silicon Valley Classical Guitar School, Angelica taught Beginning Guitar at San Francisco State University and completed her Masters of Arts in Music History and Literature. Her Masters Thesis on celebrated guitar composer, Agustín Barrios, can be found here. Angelica is a certified Suzuki Guitar Teacher and has adored working with her students for the past decade.
